Dear Friends, Family and Colleagues:
As many of you know, I was diagnosed with breast cancer (DCIS) in my right breast in 2000. I was only 40 years old, healthy and fit. I had already run at least 5 marathons at that time. Fortunately, my cancer was caught and treated early, but others are not so fortunate. I decided to make it one of my top priorities to raise money to support breast cancer research and help more people survive.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Breast Cancer is a serious and if untreated, deadly disease that 1 in 8 women will experience in their lifetime. Men can get it too. But with earlier detection and advances in breast cancer research, more people are being diagnosed and treated for breast cancer earlier, and surviving and thriving.
I decided to organize the Annual Pinkathon Challenge for Breast Cancer to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), the top-rated breast cancer charity in the world. BCRF funds research that leads to life-saving advances in breast cancer diagnosis and treatments. BCRF is recognized for its commitment to transparency and efficient use of donations. Since billions of dollars in federal funding have recently been pulled from medical research, it’s more important than ever to support the causes we care about.
Please join me in supporting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation with your donation in any amount you can. Together, let's keep on funding breast cancer research and hopefully one day, a cure! Thank you thank you thank you! Ellen
